Job summary

JLL’s South San Francisco facilities leadership role oversees safe, reliable operation of complex building infrastructure and laboratory support systems on a life sciences campus.

You will lead engineering, maintenance, and facilities personnel; drive reliability-centered maintenance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across HVAC, electrical, piping, and lab support systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8-10 years in facilities engineering, operations, or maintenance.
• Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing engineering and maintenance personnel.
• EPA Universal Certification.
• Experience in life sciences, biotech, pharmaceuticals, labs or healthcare environments.
• Experience managing facility infrastructure projects and capital improvements.
• Experience utilizing CMMS platforms, preferably Maximo.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical guidance to Facilities teams and engineering personnel.
• Establish goals, objectives, and performance expectations; conduct evaluations.
• Develop workforce planning, training, and development programs for staff.
• Foster safety, reliability, and continuous improvement culture.
• Ensure effective communication among stakeholders and contractors.
• Oversee facility infrastructure systems including HVAC, BAS/BMS, chillers, boilers, pumps, electrical, generators, UPS, plumbing, life safety.
• Lead maintenance planning: preventive, predictive, corrective; maintain records and metrics.
• Develop SOPs/EOPs; ensure regulatory compliance (Cal-OSHA, Cal-EPA, Fire/Life Safety, etc.).
• Lead capital projects, infra planning, design reviews, construction oversight, and commissioning.
• Coordinate bi-annual shutdowns and asset replacement strategies.
• Conduct facility inspections and maintain asset documentation.
• Drive sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and emergency response.
