Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Facilities & Infrastructure Operations seeks a senior Building Engineer to lead design, maintenance and modernization of lab facilities. You will coordinate with internal and external engineering teams, review cost estimates and contracts, and drive reliability and efficiency across world‑class infrastructure in the Richland, WA area.

The role requires a BA/BS or higher in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering with substantial building

Qualifications

• BS/BA or MS/MA in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering with relevant building engineer experience.
• Professional Engineer license in Washington preferred; 5–7+ years experience depending on degree level.
• Knowledge of facility software tools such as Maximo, AutoCAD, REVIT and JCI Metasys.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and oversee reconfiguration, maintenance, operation and alteration of equipment and facilities.
• Coordinate with architecture/engineering groups to develop criteria and drawings.
• Review bid sheets, contracts, and design costs for facilities acquisitions and installation.
• Inspect construction progress to ensure conformance with drawings and schedules.
• Identify options for safety, performance, and facility efficiency improvements and costs.
• Support development of annual and out-year O&M budgets and spare parts inventories.
