TriMet Operations Engineering, part of the Transit Systems and Asset Support Division, is looking for a Senior Facilities Electrical Engineer to support the design, maintenance, and operations of facilities electrical systems and equipment.
In this role, you will provide technical support through conducting engineering investigations both proactive and reactive, performing root cause analysis & failure modes and effects analysis. You will work on optimizing maintenance strategy, verifying code compliance, and planning asset lifecycles for electrical systems such as building power systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, fire alarms, lighting, and emergency power systems. With the expanding transit systems, you will also provide design input to projects to ensure facilities assets are designed and built to Trimet specifications and can integrate into the electrical infrastructure.
We're seeking a candidate with strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to support our maintenance team to maintain facilities electrical systems to be code compliant, safety, and in a State of Good Repair. A successful candidate will be a dedicated and detail-oriented professional who is a problem-solver. The ideal candidate will be capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously and consistently producing quality work. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate qualities that are proactive, collaborative, data-driven, and will be a strong communicator. This role requires an individual that is knowledgeable and experienced in electrical codes and their application to facilities systems and equipment. This position works independently and as part of a team with limited supervision from manager and requires the ability to exercise sound judgement within established guidelines and required codes.
This role will work side by side with the Facilities Maintenance Electricians, Maintenance of Way (MOW), Engineering & Construction, Safety, and Procurement teams - you will be able to establish valuable connections throughout the agency! This role requires being onsite four (4) days per week.
Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. Essential Functions
Position Requirements
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a relevant engineering degree is required.
Six (6) years of total credited experience.*
Six (6) years of experience as a competent practicing engineer are required.
Six (6) years of engineering experience in an area directly applicable to electrical, civil and mechanical systems design, inspection, and manufacturing or maintenance management are required.
PE- Professional Engineer is required within one (1) year of employment.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Maximum: $175,568.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
