We are seeking an expert-level Engineer V (PE) to provide senior technical leadership across complex oil & gas engineering projects. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who can independently solve challenging engineering problems, provide technical oversight, support field operations, and serve as a trusted technical authority.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience across upstream, midstream, and production facilities, along with strong expertise in emissions compliance, regulatory requirements, engineering design, modeling, and field evaluations.
This is a highly visible technical role with opportunities to mentor engineers, establish engineering best practices, influence technical strategy, and contribute to the growth of a dynamic engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex engineering problems independently and develop practical, technically sound solutions.
- Provide technical oversight across multiple complex engineering projects.
- Mentor and guide engineers while helping develop technical capabilities within the team.
- Establish field walkdown methodologies, data collection procedures, and modeling strategies.
- Serve as a senior technical authority for regulatory interpretation and engineering integrity.
- Perform final technical QC of engineering analysis, designs, calculations, and drawings.
- Certify the completeness, accuracy, and technical integrity of engineering deliverables.
- Identify and manage engineering risks associated with projects and deliverables.
- Advise senior leadership on technical matters, engineering strategy, and best practices.
- Identify knowledge gaps and develop internal engineering training programs.
- Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve technical capabilities, tools, and engineering products.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety-first engineering culture.
- Travel to field locations across the United States as required.
Technical Expertise
The ideal candidate will have expert-level knowledge of:
- Oil & gas upstream, midstream, and production facilities
- Compressor stations
- Production facilities
- Pipelines and associated infrastructure
- EPA OOOOa / OOOOb regulations
- State air-quality regulations and permitting requirements
- Emerging emissions and environmental regulatory frameworks
- Engineering drawings, including P&IDs, plot plans, and facility drawings
- Engineering field walkdowns and data collection
- Emissions engineering and compliance
- Engineering modeling and analysis
Software & Modeling
- Promax and/or HYSYS – expert-level proficiency
- Strong ability to develop, review, and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
CVS / Field Experience
Strong experience with CVS walkdowns is highly preferred, including:
- Developing field walkdown methodologies
- Planning field data collection
- Performing facility evaluations
- Reviewing and validating field data
- Ensuring field information meets engineering and quality requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 15+ years of engineering experience
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas and Colorado
- PE license in New Mexico and/or Pennsylvania is a plus
- Extensive oil & gas engineering experience
- Strong regulatory and emissions compliance background
- Demonstrated technical leadership and engineering QC experience
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness and ability to travel to field locations throughout the U.S.
