Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the engineering, design, and execution of complex midstream and energy infrastructure projects. This role will focus on the development and delivery of facilities related to gas compression, LNG, RNG, pump stations, pipelines, gas processing, dehydration systems, metering facilities, heaters, separators, and associated mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and hands-on experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects within the oil & gas or utility industries. This individual will work closely with project managers, clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering specifications, calculations, and design packages for assigned projects
  • Prepare and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), piping layouts, isometric drawings, and general arrangement drawings
  • Perform and review engineering calculations including pipe sizing, valve sizing, hydraulic analysis, hydrostatic test design, compressor and pump system evaluations
  • Lead mechanical design efforts for gas compression facilities, LNG/RNG facilities, pipeline systems, liquid pump stations, and related infrastructure
  • Coordinate with project managers, program managers, clients, and internal engineering teams to define project scope, objectives, schedules, and deliverables
  • Develop scopes of work for materials, equipment, construction, and vendor services
  • Lead procurement support activities including technical bid evaluations, equipment specification development, and vendor recommendations
  • Review vendor drawings and technical submittals for compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards
  • Support project budgeting, engineering estimates, and overall installed cost evaluations
  • Participate in field engineering activities, client meetings, and on-site project coordination
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards including ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA, CSA, and federal pipeline regulations
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and engineering staff
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate engineering deliverables across projects
  • Evaluate engineering methods, tools, technologies, and best practices to improve project execution and design efficiency
  • Present technical findings, recommendations, and engineering solutions to leadership and clients
  • Assist with project management activities and support overall project execution

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 7+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years supporting oil & gas, midstream, utility, or energy infrastructure projects
  • 5+ years of turbomachinery experience including compressors, turbines, pumps, or rotating equipment
  • Strong understanding of pipeline and facility design codes including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API, NFPA, and 49 CFR 192/195
  • Experience supporting gas compression, LNG/RNG, processing facilities, pump stations, and pipeline infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, piping systems, bills of material, and design documentation
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and project deliverables
  • Experience leading engineering design reviews, vendor coordination, and technical discussions with clients and stakeholders
