Teal Energi seeks a licensed Mechanical Project Engineer in Texas to lead capital projects within gas processing and energy infrastructure facilities.

This hands-on role covers concept through commissioning and startup, coordinating with operations, engineering, construction, contractors, vendors, and leadership to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering, project engineering, or capital project experience in industrial energy facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple capital and facility improvement projects from concept through commissioning and startup.
  • Develop project scopes, engineering deliverables, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate engineering firms, contractors, vendors, fabricators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement, technical bid evaluations, and vendor reviews.
  • Review mechanical designs, equipment layouts, P&IDs, specifications, and engineering packages.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for new assets, operating facilities, expansions, and facility modifications.
  • Evaluate equipment and system modifications for reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical and process equipment.
  • Review facilities and projects for compliance with NFPA standards, engineering codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support fire protection system reviews and facility safety initiatives.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and project planning.
  • Monitor project cost, schedule, scope, and risk throughout execution.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between engineering, operations, construction, and leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures, and design practices.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead and support capital projects, facility improvements, equipment installations, and engineering initiatives across gas processing and energy infrastructure facilities.

This is a hands‑on opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who enjoys taking projects from concept through engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup. You will work closely with operations, engineering, construction, contractors, vendors, and leadership to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

The role has a strong focus on operating facilities, capital project execution, mechanical engineering, code compliance, and fire protection, with responsibility for multiple capital projects, including projects valued at $10MM+. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast paced, growing company environment.

What You’ll Do:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license - required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering, project engineering, or capital project experience in industrial, energy, gas processing, LNG, petrochemical, midstream, or related facilities.
  • Experience managing engineering or capital projects through multiple phases of execution.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Experience with P&IDs, equipment layouts, mechanical designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience coordinating engineering, construction, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards.
Preferred Experience:
  • EPC experience
  • Operating facility and/or brownfield project experience
  • NFPA and fire protection experience
  • Natural gas processing, LNG, compression, storage, or distribution experience
  • Experience with $10MM+ capital projects
  • Construction or field execution experience
  • Commissioning, startup, or operational readiness experience
  • AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, or similar software
  • Experience with ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA, or other relevant industry standards

We are particularly interested in licensed Mechanical Engineers who have worked in gas processing, midstream, LNG, petrochemical, refining, industrial facilities, or other energy infrastructure environments and have experience combining hands‑on engineering with capital project execution.
