Job summary

Plano ISD is seeking a skilled Electrician to maintain and repair electrical equipment and building systems. Responsibilities include installation, inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of electrical components and lighting across facilities.

The role requires a high school diploma, Journeyman or Master Electrical license with the goal of obtaining journeyman’s license within 12 months, and a Texas driver’s license (CDL preferred).

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman or Master Electrical license (Plano, Richardson, Allen and Dallas).
• Must obtain journeyman’s license within 12 months of hire.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required.
• Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
• Driving record is insurable with Plano ISD’s carrier.

Responsibilities

• Analyze each job assignment with the Cluster Supervisor to ensure materials are available.
• Generate work orders and maintain labor/material history.
• Maintain and repair main electrical distribution switch gear as needed.
• Repair complete electrical control systems.
• Install electrical service from the main, including conduits and wiring.
• Install and maintain fluorescent, incandescent, HID and emergency lighting.
• Respond to after-hours electrical repairs on a rotating on-call basis.
• Drive Plano ISD vehicles to inspect worksites and transport equipment.
• Follow safety rules and ensure staff comply with procedures.
• Maintain company vehicle interiors/exteriors; report vehicle issues.
