Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI seeks a Staff Lead Engineer for Interior Lighting to provide senior technical leadership across vehicle programs. You will connect mechanical and electrical hardware, optics, software, and validation to ensure lighting solutions meet cost, timing, and technical requirements.

You will mentor Interior Lighting DREs, resolve complex issues, drive robust processes, and translate strategy into successful program execution across interiors, lighting, and electronics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, or Computer Engineering.
• 7+ years automotive product development experience.
• Experience with optics, plastics, light pipes, lenses, illuminated materials.
• Experience with electronic hardware and PCBA design.
• Strong mentoring and cross-functional leadership.
• Structured problem solving and DFMEA/DRBFM experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Interior Lighting DREs.
• Lead cross-functional resolution of lighting issues across optics, mechanical, electronics, and software.
• Drive lighting quality and launch execution through PRTS governance.
• Support system-level integration of interior lighting across vehicle systems.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and schedules.
