Job summary

General Motors' Warren, Michigan design studio seeks a Senior Creative Designer for exteriors to lead bold concept development, translate ideas into 2D/3D proposals and guide projects from sketch to final release clay model.

You will collaborate with engineering, sculpting and fabrication teams, mentor junior designers, present design directions to leadership, stay current with trends, and ensure timely delivery of production-ready exterior concepts.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in an OEM design studio.
Bachelor’s Degree in Design (Automotive, Transportation, Industrial...).
Strong understanding of form, 2-D to 3-D interpretation, and ability to visualize.
Creativity, independence, Autonomy, Problem solving, design judgment, team spirit, volume understanding.
For your portfolio; several series of sketches and ideations, production program experience samples.

Responsibilities

Lead a design team to develop bold exterior designs that support brand goals and enhance customer experience.
Translate ideas into finished designs using 2D sketches, animations (Ai), 3D sketch tools, and close collaboration with modeling teams.
Collaborate with design team, engineering and fabrication teams in the development of new exterior designs.
Provide insight and recommendations to leadership while acting on guidance in a deadline-driven environment.
Maintain knowledge of current design trends and technology; present ideas to management and leadership.
