Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. is seeking a senior‑level Export Compliance Counsel to guide the company through complex U.S. export controls affecting software, encryption, and technology classification.

This on‑site role in Atlanta partners with engineering and executive leadership to implement practical compliance solutions. You will lead classification, licensing, record‑keeping, audits, and training, ensuring a robust export control program and cross‑functional

Qualifications

JD from an accredited U.S. law school.
Admission to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
7+ years of trade/compliance experience with EAR and export controls.
Ability to lead and mentor teams and manage multiple projects.
Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Advise on U.S. export control regulations (EAR/BIS) and classify products, software, and technology.
Manage export control program activities including licensing, record-keeping, and end-use/end-user diligence.
Provide practical, business-friendly guidance to engineering and executive stakeholders.
Lead cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Procurement, HR, IT, and other teams.
Develop training and awareness programs; ensure internal compliance with export controls.
