Placements24 is seeking a highly competent Geologist for its exploration and asset evaluation team in Welkom. The role combines fieldwork with office analysis to identify hydrocarbon prospects and evaluate assets, working with multidisciplinary teams to build subsurface models.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Geology or Earth Sciences and 6+ years’ exploration geology experience, with proficiency in Petrel and Kingdom Suite. A collaborative, data-driven approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences with a minimum of 6 years in exploration geology.
• Experience in oil and gas exploration preferred.
• Strong analytical, report-writing and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well logs and core data to define prospectivity.
• Develop and refine geological models for reservoirs.
• Conduct geological risk assessments and economic evaluations.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers for integrated interpretations.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for management and partners.
• Possibly participate in field trips for data acquisition in Welkom area.
