Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Petroleum Geochemist to join our exploration and production team in Paarl, Western Cape. You will conduct geochemical analyses on oils, gases and source rocks to evaluate petroleum systems, characterize source rocks, and assess hydrocarbon maturity and emplacement.

This role blends laboratory work with analytical collaboration in a hybrid environment, allowing close interaction with geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers on integrated studies.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Geochemistry, Organic Geochemistry, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of petroleum geochemistry experience, preferably in Oil & Gas exploration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze geochemical data from source rocks, oils, and natural gases to characterize petroleum systems.
• Determine maturity, migration pathways, and accumulation timing of hydrocarbons.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Petroleum Geochemist to join their exploration and production team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is vital for understanding the origin, migration, and accumulation of hydrocarbons within reservoirs. You will conduct detailed geochemical analyses on oils, gases, and source rocks to evaluate petroleum systems, characterize source rocks, and assess the maturity and emplacement of hydrocarbons.
