Job summary

JRAD in Belcamp, MD is seeking a Senior Expeditionary Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain expeditionary communications networks for U.S. Army test and evaluation missions.

This telework position includes frequent travel and extended onsite support at ATEC Test Centers. The role requires a BS in IT/Engineering/Telecommunications/CS, 8+ years in network engineering or expeditionary comms, DoD experience, and security certifications (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA/Network+).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in network engineering, wireless communications, RF systems, or expeditionary communications engineering.
• Experience designing, deploying, configuring, or supporting communications networks in operational, remote, or distributed environments.
• Experience supporting DoD, U.S. Army, federal government, or other mission-critical communications environments.
• Networking certifications such as CCNA or Network+ or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals and wireless coverage optimization.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, routing, switching, and security principles.
• Ability to lead field deployments and coordinate with multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, deploy, configure, and sustain expeditionary communications networks.
• Develop deployable network architectures with wireless, RF, wired Ethernet, and fiber connectivity.
• Conduct RF surveys, spectrum assessments, and interference evaluations.
• Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless access points.
• Engineer secure, scalable networks with redundancy and interoperability.
• Lead installation, testing, and validation of expeditionary networks.
• Troubleshoot Layer 1–3 network and RF issues, including interference and bandwidth limits.
• Apply DoD cybersecurity requirements and hardening during deployment.
• Create network diagrams, RF survey results, and implementation plans.
• Coordinate with government stakeholders and field teams to resolve challenges.
• Provide senior-level guidance to junior engineers.
