Job summary

YMCA of Middle Tennessee in Nashville is seeking a Senior Executive Director for the Green Hills YMCA to lead strategic direction, daily operations, and community impact through high-quality programs and member experiences.

You will build and empower a diverse team, strengthen donor and neighbor relationships, oversee budgets, and ensure safe, welcoming environments while expanding the Y's presence in the Green Hills area.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership with staff supervision, team development and performance coaching.
• Experience with strategic planning, program oversight, and operational excellence in a community-focused org.
• Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, revenue generation and resource stewardship.
• Proven success in community engagement, relationship building, and partnership development with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking and collaborative problem-solving.
• Experience in nonprofit leadership, youth services, health and wellness, or related field is beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, recreation, or related field; advanced degree or certifications are a plus.

About the Role

The Senior Executive Director, Green Hills YMCA is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day operations, financial performance, and community impact of the Green Hills YMCA in Nashville.

This leader will develop and inspire a diverse team, strengthen relationships throughout the community, and ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and experiences that advance the YMCA's mission.

• Oversee membership, wellness, youth, and family programs, ensuring quality experiences that reflect YMCA standards and community needs.
• Manage budgets, financial performance, forecasting, revenue generation, and responsible stewardship of resources.
• Drive member engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
• Build meaningful relationships with members, volunteers, donors, community leaders, and partner organizations.
• Lead fundraising and philanthropic efforts, including annual campaigns and partnership development.
• Identify opportunities to expand the Y's impact and strengthen its presence in the Green Hills community.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with YMCA of Middle Tennessee leadership on broader organizational and regional priorities.
• Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Qualifications include:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Experience in nonprofit leadership, youth services, health and wellness, recreation, or a related field is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, recreation, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
• A strong commitment to the YMCA mission, equity and inclusion, and creating safe and welcoming environments for individuals and families.
• Ability to work on-site in Nashville with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends based on program and community needs.
