Job summary

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) in Washington, DC, seeks a Deputy Inspector General for Audit Services to lead the Office of Audit Services, directing audits and strategy across HHS programs. This Senior Executive Service role oversees nearly 500 auditors, analysts and specialists, guiding audits and reports to the IG, Secretary, and Congress.

You will shape policy, coordinate with Congress, and ensure compliance with GAO standards, while expanding the effectiveness and efficiency of HHS

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting.
• Combination of education and experience: four years in accounting or auditing.
• Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses.
• CPA certification is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and control audits of HHS programs; report to the IG on audit effectiveness.
• Oversee audits of HHS programs, grantees, and contractors; drive improvements.
• Represent the OIG before Congressional committees and testify on audit issues.
• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction to the Office of Audit Services.
• Ensure adherence to Government Auditing Standards and related regulatory requirements.
