Job summary

HHS OIG invites applications for the Deputy Inspector General for Audit Services (DIGAS), a senior SES role reporting to the Principal Deputy Inspector General. As the senior executive of the Office of Audit Services, you will oversee a broad portfolio including Medicare, Medicaid, NIH, FDA, and CDC audits, with accountability for strategy, resources, and outcomes.

The DIGAS leads five Assistant Inspectors General for Audit, drives performance, and ensures alignment with Government Auditing

Qualifications

• Executive experience overseeing nationwide audits of large programs.
• Experience leading organizational transformation and strategic change.
• Ability to advise cabinet-level executives and congressional committees on enterprise deficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and controls audits of HHS programs and reports to the Inspector General and Congress.
• Leads resource planning, budgeting, and audit scope decisions for nationwide audits.
• Represents OIG on audit issues before Congress and media; testifies as needed.
• Develops audit goals and resource requirements for budget hearings and serves as expert witness.
