Job summary

Safety National, a leading specialty insurer, is seeking a Senior Underwriter in Chicago, IL for Excess Workers’ Compensation. You will underwrite, service, and drive profitability within your territory, evaluating new and renewal opportunities and negotiating with brokers.

Role requires strong analytical and communication skills, and willingness to spend ~40% outside the office to grow the book of business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting large workers’ compensation accounts.
• Regional/local market knowledge of brokers and accounts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite excess workers’ compensation opportunities within assigned territory.
• Analyze complex risk and loss information to determine pricing and terms.
• Negotiate coverage, premiums, terms, and conditions with brokers.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers and insureds.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support new and renewal business.
