Job summary

Safety National is seeking an Excess Workers' Compensation Senior Underwriter in Chicago with a focus on underwriting, servicing, and profitability of a local book of business. You will evaluate new and renewal opportunities, analyze risk, establish program structures, and negotiate terms with brokers.

You will build strong broker and insured relationships, meet clients, assess operations, and balance risk with opportunity using data and actuarial inputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting large workers' compensation and excess accounts.
• Strong communication, analytical and time-management skills.
• Willingness to spend ~40% of time outside the office soliciting new business.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and service excess workers' compensation opportunities within your territory.
• Analyze risk, determine pricing structures, and negotiate terms with brokers.
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of new opportunities and client relationships.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support renewals and new business.
• Spend about 40% of time outside the office meeting clients and brokers.
