You will work within delegated authority to ensure profitable growth while maintaining rigorous documentation and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes technical underwriting depth, risk evaluation, and collaboration with brokers and carrier teams to secure appropriate coverage structures and pricing strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in excess casualty or surplus lines underwriting.
• Experience making binding underwriting decisions within a delegated authority framework.
• Strong technical knowledge of E&S casualty coverage structures, attachment points, and pricing methodology.
• Ability to analyze complex risk submissions, loss data, and exposure information to reach sound underwriting conclusions.
• Solid understanding of surplus lines regulations and E&S market placement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with underwriting platforms, rating tools, and productivity software.

Responsibilities

• Risk assessment & underwriting authority: analyze submissions, loss history, exposure data.
• Portfolio & Profitability Management: maintain profitable book and monitor market conditions.
• Broker Engagement: maintain relationships with wholesale brokers and guide submissions.
• Documentation & Compliance: prepare clear underwriting files and ensure regulatory compliance.
