Job summary

TruCapital Partners in New York is seeking an experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter to join its underwriting team. You will build and manage a profitable portfolio of non-construction excess casualty business while strengthening broker partnerships.

The role focuses on underwriting new and renewal accounts, evaluating complex risks, and pricing with favorable terms. You will collaborate across underwriting, claims, and leadership to drive portfolio growth and profitability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Commercial Casualty or Excess Casualty underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of casualty coverages, risk analysis, and policy structure.
• Experience underwriting middle-market and/or large commercial accounts.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain broker relationships.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• E&S market experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Excess Casualty accounts.
• Evaluate complex commercial risks and determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions.
• Manage broker and agency relationships to drive new business production.
• Analyze account performance and portfolio profitability.
• Collaborate with internal underwriting, claims, and leadership teams.
• Identify growth opportunities within target industries and geographic territories.
• Maintain underwriting discipline while achieving production goals.
