Job summary

AXA XL's Excess Casualty group in Los Angeles is seeking a seasoned underwriter to handle new and renewal business across the territory. You will market to retail broker partners, analyze submissions, and determine risk using underwriting tools.

Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering to deliver timely quotations, binders, and endorsements. A Bachelor's degree and strong communication skills are required, with ~20% travel.

Qualifications

• Progressive underwriting experience including umbrella and excess casualty.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and contracts.
• Experience collaborating with actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering.
• Strong time-management, sales, marketing and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Bachelor0s Degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Market and solicit new business from retail broker partners.
• Analyze submissions and determine degree of risk for each account.
• Utilize underwriting tools to analyze casualty exposure.
• Adhere to guidelines and referral requirements for regional management.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering.
• Provide timely quotations, binders, policies and endorsements.
• Cross-sell with other AXA XL units to maximize capital deployment.
• Monitor marketplace trends for emerging issues.
• Contribute to regional underwriting planning.
• Travel 20% for client, broker and internal meetings.
