Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join the Powertrain test team. You will execute system-level validation, develop test methodologies, and implement automated test scripts for efficient data collection and analysis at Rivian's lab environments.

Responsibilities include defining test profiles, handling data post-processing, and collaborating to enhance Rivian's test capabilities. Strong autonomy and 5+ years in electric powertrain testing are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in testing or developing of electric axles and drivetrains.
• Experience in design, construction, implementation and validation of electric powertrain test equipment.
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis and scripting for automated data analysis tools such as AVL Concerto or Python based tools.
• Good knowledge of automotive CAN and CAN FD communication, including ability to create .DBC or FIBEX CAN and database files.
• Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of Veristand test system is preferred; AVL PUMA and EMCON desirable.
• Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of other dynamometer controls systems could be a substitute.
• Ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Perform system level validation testing for Powertrain (and occasional vehicle testing in lab environment).
• Support development of new/test system capabilities from requirements phase to efficient utilization.
• Develop test methods for electric Powertrain products including instrumentation and data acquisition setups.
• Support Rivian teams in generating Rivian Test Standards and validation plans.
• Define drive unit and gearbox test profiles and implement in automated test scripts.
• Analyze test data, write reports, and sign-off for publication.
• Troubleshoot testing issues with bespoke test beds and devices under test.
• Support departmental continuous improvement efforts.
