Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join the Powertrain test team. You will execute system-level validation, develop test methodologies, and implement automated test scripts for efficient data collection and analysis at Rivian's lab environments.

Responsibilities include defining test profiles, handling data post-processing, and collaborating to enhance Rivian's test capabilities. Strong autonomy and 5+ years in electric powertrain testing are required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in testing or developing of electric axles and drivetrains.
  • Experience in design, construction, implementation and validation of electric powertrain test equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and scripting for automated data analysis tools such as AVL Concerto or Python based tools.
  • Good knowledge of automotive CAN and CAN FD communication, including ability to create .DBC or FIBEX CAN and database files.
  • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of Veristand test system is preferred; AVL PUMA and EMCON desirable.
  • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of other dynamometer controls systems could be a substitute.
  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Analyze test data, write reports, and sign-off for publication.
  • Troubleshoot testing issues with bespoke test beds and devices under test.
  • Support departmental continuous improvement efforts.

Role Summary

The Sr. Test Engineer works with other members of the test team to execute system level Powertrain testing as part of Rivian's product development process. The activities also include enhancing test facility capability, working with requesters on methodology development and, writing automated testing scripts for efficient test execution. From there, automated post-processing, checks on data quality and feedback to the test requester are required.

  • Develop test methods for electric Powertrain products including, instrumentation and data acquisition setups, assuring quality, repeatable results
  • Support other Rivian teams in the generation of Rivian Test Standards, providing technical input on test setups and validation plans
  • Define drive unit and gearbox test profiles and, support the implementation of the test profiles into automated test scripts
  • Analyze test data, write test reports and sign-off for publication
  • Troubleshoot testing issues with bespoke test beds and devices under test
  • Support departmental continuous improvement endeavors
Qualifications

  • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of other dynamometer controls systems such as REPS, STARS/SPARC, etc. could be a substitute
  • Ability to work autonomously
Pay Disclosure

Salary Range Irvine-Based Applicants: $107,800-$134,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
