Job summary

Bear Creek Construction, Ltd. seeks a Chief Estimator – Underground Site Utilities to lead commercial wet utility estimating across the DFW Metroplex.

You will drive pre-bid strategy for storm, water, and sewer projects, analyze plans, and produce competitive bids using PlanSwift, HCSS Heavy Bid, IsqFt and related tools. Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial wet utility estimating.
• Proven ability to independently manage full bid process.
• Ability to read complex civil blueprints and specs.
• Experience with PlanSwift, HCSS Heavy Bid, IsqFt, BuildingConnected, Procore or SmartBid.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare precise commercial estimates for storm, water, and sewer utility projects using specialized bidding platforms.
• Analyze civil blueprints, project specifications, and scope requirements to build competitive, highly accurate project bids.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and utility plan reviews using tools such as PlanSwift and HCSS Heavy Bid.
• Collaborate with general contractors, project owners, and internal operations to ensure clear communication throughout the bidding process.
• Partner with accounting and purchasing departments to prepare detailed project budgets and secure competitive pre-bid material quotes.
• Facilitate seamless preconstruction planning and handoffs to the project management team upon award.
• Process, track, and maintain accurate documentation for project change orders and official project correspondence.
• Work with and help develop the estimating team that currently includes an estimator and an estimator coordinator.
