Job summary

STV is seeking a Senior Estimator in Dallas, TX to join the Project Controls department. You will develop, analyze, and validate cost estimates for major transportation, aviation, infrastructure, and capital programs, collaborating with PMs, engineers, designers, contractors, and clients.

The role emphasizes cost planning, quantity take-offs, and data-driven estimates, with leadership duties, mentorship, and support for proposals. A competitive compensation range is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10+ years in cost estimating, cost engineering, or project controls.
• Experience preparing estimates for transportation, aviation, transit or major capital programs.
• Solid knowledge of construction means and methods and cost modeling.
• Experience with detailed quantity take-offs from plans and specs.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual to detailed construction cost estimates.
• Prepare quantity take-offs, cost models, and estimate documentation.
• Evaluate scope, identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Maintain backup documentation and calculations.
• Develop cost databases and unit pricing libraries.
• Validate estimates with design consultants and third parties.
• Partner with project controls to align with schedules and budgets.
• Support budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and life-cycle cost analyses.
• Analyze escalation factors, productivity and market trends.
• Mentor junior estimators and support improvement initiatives.
• Assist with proposals by preparing conceptual estimates and cost strategies.
