Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimating across multiple projects, from conceptual stages through design development and construction documents. This role emphasizes delivering accurate estimates, value-engineering options, and close collaboration with Owners and Architects to drive predictable outcomes.

The Senior Estimator will prepare bids, coordinate with subs, and develop detailed schedules while upholding Layton's standards of integrity and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction field or equivalent education and experience.
• Over seven years' experience in estimating commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrates competence in hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Knowledge of all construction systems including mechanical and electrical.
• Experience with Target Value Design and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Reads and improves contract documents; offers value-engineering options.
• Performs quantity take-offs, prices, and analysis of information.
• Solicits bids from subcontractors and suppliers; maintains contact lists.
• Attends owner meetings during estimate development.
• Prepares detailed schedules for proposed projects.
• Initiates schematic plans or sketches to illustrate approach and strategy.
• Assists and guides staff on special projects.
• Maintains professionalism and integrity in estimating processes.
