Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced estimator to support preconstruction through the Launch process, performing quantity take-offs, cost analyses, and value engineering to develop complete GMP-ready estimates.

The role collaborates with the Lead Estimators and Preconstruction Manager, coordinates trade partner inputs, reviews design documents, and ensures bids reflect current pricing and site conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in project estimation or preconstruction.
• Ability to read contract documents, drawings and specs.
• Proficient in budgeting, value engineering and GMP/bid processes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Preconstruction Manager in estimating functions during launch.
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for pricing and bidding.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect and engineer for the Preconstruction phase.
• Prepare comparison analyses and communicate variances clearly to stakeholders.
• Manage design document distribution for budgeting and bidding; secure trade input.
• Review design documents for completeness and request additional information.
• Visit sites to evaluate conditions and identify scope not in design docs.
• Support setup of estimate, schedule and responsibility matrix.
• Perform quantity take-off, analysis, and studies for trades and systems.
• Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates and special studies.
• Utilize BIM for take-off and visualization to support estimates.
• Prepare bid proposal forms; evaluate bids and identify gaps.
• Ensure pricing reflects current data and includes GC/GRs and site logistics.
• Participate in estimate review meetings with stakeholders prior to client delivery.
• Lead or support Lump Sum bid process.
• Participate in hiring and performance processes for direct reports.
