Job summary

Sole Construction Partners is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead and elevate estimating and preconstruction across multiple entities. The role demands strategic leadership, deep shell/drywall expertise in residential projects, and the ability to scale teams and processes for growth.

You will oversee bid management, implement standardized workflows, and drive data-informed pricing decisions while coordinating with operations, field leadership, and executives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in construction estimating, including leadership of estimating teams.
• Deep expertise in shell construction and/or drywall estimating within residential construction.
• Proven ability to build and scale high-performing teams.
• Advanced proficiency in estimating software and construction business systems.

Responsibilities

• Executive Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-company estimating organization; establish performance standards and development pathways; conduct evaluations; foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Estimating Strategy & Operational Excellence: Design standardized estimating processes; drive consistency through templates and scalable workflows; ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Bid Management & Preconstruction Leadership: Oversee preparation and submission of bid proposals; review cost models and pricing; collaborate with operations and management on strategic pursuits.
• Technical Oversight & Systems Integration: Lead adoption and optimization of estimating platforms (Planswift transitioning to Stack); develop internal tools for scheduling and data flow.
• Market Intelligence & Data Analytics: Analyze historical data and market trends; report on estimating metrics and bid success; provide strategic pricing insights.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align estimating with procurement and field teams; conduct site visits; ensure alignment across departments.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain compliance with industry standards and contracts; identify and mitigate risks in preconstruction.
