Job summary

Armand Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to provide construction cost estimating and technical review services in support of the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA). The role requires eight years of full-time professional experience, including at least five years in direct construction estimating.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of full-time professional experience in construction, design, or a related technical field.
• Minimum five years of direct construction estimating experience.
• Experience reviewing contractor and/or consultant estimates and supporting cost negotiations.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, construction methods, materials, labor, and cost development.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate contract estimates prepared by private consultants for accuracy, completeness, reasonableness, and consistency with project scope.
• Prepare written analyses and recommendations regarding consultant-prepared estimates for SCA implementation.
• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates for projects at various design and construction stages.
• Develop and/or review cost estimates incorporating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, general conditions, quantities, unit pricing.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, surveys, and cost evaluations based on design documents and proposed changes.
• Review documents to determine scope, constructability, cost impacts, and potential estimating risks.
• Evaluate pricing against historical data and current market conditions, labor rates, and material pricing.
• Prepare independent cost estimates for change orders and scope modifications.
• Review proposals to assess reasonableness of costs and participate in cost negotiations.
• Identify variances between estimates and budgets and reconcile them.
