Job summary

Artheon, a trusted engineering and consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support its NYC School Construction Authority contract. You will prepare detailed construction cost estimates and evaluate change proposals.

The role involves reviewing drawings, specifications and contract documents, developing quantity takeoffs, and coordinating with project managers, designers, consultants, and contractors to resolve scope and pricing discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services, or related field.
• At least five years of full-time technical experience, with three years in architectural/electrical/mechanical/plumbing estimating.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed cost estimates for all design and construction phases.
• Develop quantity takeoffs and cost evaluations from drawings and contract documents.
• Review contract documents and field records to validate changes and entitlement.
• Evaluate added and deleted work including labor, materials, equipment, and subs.
• Verify quantities using drawings, field measurements, and time-and-material records.
• Support change order negotiations with independent estimates and documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, consultants, and contractors to resolve scope and pricing discrepancies.
• Review consultant estimates for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Assist in cost forecasting by tracking potential and approved changes and their impact on budgets.
• Plan, assign, and review estimating work as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services, or related field

Five years of full-time technical experience with three years in architectural/electrical/mechanical/plumbing estimating
