Job summary

CDM Smith in Salt Lake City seeks an experienced Estimator to prepare design/build, design information, and construction management estimates for bids and proposals across multiple trades. You will analyze quotations, evaluate subcontractor bids, and enter take-offs to ensure complete, accurate cost plans.

The role requires 8 years of related experience and a High School diploma or equivalent, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 8 years of related estimating experience preferred.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyzes quotations both prior to and on bid day.
• Evaluates bids of sub-contractors and suppliers for scope, delivery time, and specifications.
• Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricings for the project.
• Recognizes and applies the work breakdown structure (WBS).
• Processes and identifies complete scope of project with limited design definition.
• Prepares opinions of probable construction cost estimates for applicable discipline.
• Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes and reviews for completeness.
• Assists in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Guides junior staff in estimating procedures and the use of estimating software.
• Manages bid day and close out activities.
• Performs additional duties as required.
