Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare design/build, engineer, construction management, GMP, and hard-bid estimates.

You will analyze quotations, evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and compile quantity take-offs and pricing for projects. The role also involves guiding junior staff and coordinating corporate estimating functions while travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 8 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency dependent on duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyzes quotations prior to and on bid day.
• Evaluates bids of sub-contractors and suppliers for scope, delivery time and specs.
• Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricing for projects.
• Recognizes and applies work breakdown structure (WBS).
• Prepares opinions of probable construction cost estimates for applicable discipline.
• Develops subcontractor and vendor scopes and reviews for completeness.
• Assists in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Guides junior staff in estimating procedures and software.
• Manages bid day and close out activities.
