Job summary

Foster Lawson is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to develop accurate and competitive estimates for public and private infrastructure projects valued between $50 million and $200 million. You will lead estimation efforts, review drawings and specs, and coordinate with owners, subcontractors and project teams throughout the bidding process.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering or construction management background with 10+ years in heavy civil estimating, strong leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or equivalent.
• 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment and estimating principles.
• Experience with estimating software AGTEK, Primavera and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of public-agency and DBE requirements.
• Strong communication, analytical and relationship-building skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors and project conditions.
• Review drawings, specifications, site conditions and quantity take-offs.
• Evaluate alternative construction methods and value-engineering opportunities.
• Use historical cost data to verify pricing and estimate accuracy.
• Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior leadership.
• Coordinate with owners, subcontractors and project teams throughout the bidding process.
• Lead project handovers and communicate key scope, risks and construction methods to operations.
• Support design-build and preconstruction efforts.
• Develop regional relationships to increase bidding opportunities.
• Mentor and supervise estimating team members.
• Promote strong safety, quality and environmental standards.
