Job summary

Grunley Construction Company, Inc. seeks a Senior Estimator in the DMV area to lead takeoffs, write scopes, and manage subcontractor coordination for design‑build and design‑bid‑build pursuits.

You will guide the estimating team, mentor junior staff, and interface with design partners to develop complete scopes of work. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of GC/subcontractor estimating experience, strong Excel/Word skills, and extensive construction knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management required.
• 7+ years estimating experience for GC or subcontractor.
• Strong communication, organizational and math skills; ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Ability to provide constructability input and understand sequencing of construction.
• Extensive construction industry knowledge; advanced Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents and develop subcontractor scopes of work across multiple projects.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to review scope and negotiate coverage.
• Perform quantity take-offs, summarize quantities, and draft pricing including self-perform work.
• Attend site visits and pre-proposal meetings.
• Lead estimates with Director of Estimating and mentor new estimators.
• Prepare RFIs and identify scope gaps and omissions.
• Attend networking events to develop subcontractor relationships.
• Coordinate with estimating team for proper scoping across trades.
• Prepare for bid day with review meetings and bid package coordination.
