Job summary

Grunley Construction Company Inc invites an experienced Estimator to join the Preconstruction/Estimating Department. The role focuses on developing accurate takeoffs, writing scopes, and evaluating subcontractor proposals for competitive design-bid-build and design-build bids.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management and brings at least five years of estimating experience within general contracting or commercial subcontracting.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive knowledge of the construction industry and its processes.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• Excellent organizational and mathematical abilities.
• Ability to read and understand construction documents and provide constructability input during estimating and bidding.

Responsibilities

• Prepare scopes, takeoffs and bid packages for design-bid-build and design-build projects.
• Evaluate subcontractor proposals and assist in selecting subcontractors.
• Provide constructability input to the estimating and bidding process.
• Coordinate with Preconstruction to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.

The Estimator will work in the Preconstruction/Estimating Department on competitive design-bid-build and design-build proposals. Relevant experience should include writing scopes, performing takeoff, and evaluating subcontractor proposals. Expertise in estimating CSI Divisions 2 - 7 and/or Division 26 is preferred.

Reports to: Director of Preconstruction

• Required Education
  • Bachelors degree- Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
• Required Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of estimating experience for a general contractor or commercial subcontractor
• Preferred Experience
  • Experience using construction software such as Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, and BlueBeam
  • Experience in the Metro Washington DC area is preferred
• Required Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
