Job summary

The Middlesex Corporation in Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Estimator for heavy civil and marine projects. You will lead bid takeoffs, price direct and indirect costs, and coordinate a team of estimators through bid submission.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, at least 5 years of complex highway, piling, bridge and marine experience, and strong knowledge of HCSS. Design/build and large project experience preferred.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of HCSS is a prerequisite.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or construction-related field.
• Minimum 5 years of complex highway, piling, bridge and marine construction experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a supervisory estimating position on projects over $50M.
• Minimum 2 years of design/build experience on large public projects.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Safety policies and promote a safety-first culture.
• Oversee takeoff and pricing of direct and indirect costs for projects.
• Ensure bid documents conform with addenda or modifications.
• Direct the efforts of estimators and manage the pre-bid schedule.
• Ensure proper subcontractor and vendor coverage for bids (DBE).
• Coordinate pre-bid testing to improve bid accuracy.
• Maintain integrity of bid files and processes.
• Set up labor, bond, and insurance rates in HCSS.
• Collaborate with Chief Estimator through bid submission.
• Assist with budget preparation and DBE documentation.
• Chair Project Turnover Meetings for new projects.
