Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is seeking a Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to support large-scale EPC and data center projects in the Houston area. The role emphasizes detailed cost estimates for piping and mechanical systems, with heavy use of Trimble Accubid and Excel.

You will review drawings, collaborate across teams, and help drive bid competitiveness while managing schedules and cost controls. Onsite role with minimal travel, based in Channelview, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM/Engineering or 10 years' experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years estimating experience in industrial construction with piping emphasis.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.
• Proficiency in Trimble Accubid and Excel.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings and structural plans.
• Experience with EPC or design-build delivery models preferred.
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical scopes with piping emphasis.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing in Excel.
• Review drawings, specs, and scope documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with PM, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions.
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals.
• Develop construction schedules in MS Project.
• Analyze subcontractor/vendor quotes for alignment with scope.
• Identify risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoffs.
• Maintain estimating databases and productivity benchmarks.
