Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc. seeks a Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to support large-scale EPC and design-build construction projects, including data centers, chemical, and heavy industrial sectors.

The role emphasizes piping, mechanical systems, and accurate cost estimation. You will review drawings, perform takeoffs, and develop pricing with a focus on labor, material, and equipment profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with focus on mechanical/piping scopes.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models preferred.
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical scopes with emphasis on piping and mechanical systems.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Excel.
• Review drawings, specs, and scope documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions.
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals.
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to align with scope and standards.
• Identify risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoffs.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks.
