Job summary

Clear. in Houston is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating for hyperscale data center projects. You will leverage your General Contractor experience to develop conceptual through GMP estimates and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 7+ years in commercial construction estimating and at least 3 years focused on hyperscale data centers, with demonstrated success on large-scale projects and strong bid-management skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• 3+ years of hyperscale data center estimating experience.
• Must have worked for a General Contractor.
• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and sequencing.
• Experience with subcontractor bidding and bid leveling.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts for large-scale hyperscale data center projects.
• Develop detailed conceptual, schematic, and GMP estimates.
• Review drawings, specs, scopes of work and project documentation.
• Develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Solicit, evaluate and level subcontractor and vendor bids.
• Work closely with preconstruction, project management, design and operations teams.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions and potential cost impacts.
• Develop and maintain detailed estimates throughout the design process.
• Participate in value engineering and cost optimization exercises.
• Prepare estimates and presentations for internal leadership and clients.
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
• Maintain current knowledge of construction costs, labor rates and market conditions.

About the Role

We are working with a leading General Contractor delivering major hyperscale and mission‑critical projects across the US. They are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join their Houston team and play a key role in the preconstruction and estimating of large‑scale data center projects.

This is an opportunity for an estimator with strong General Contractor experience and a proven track record estimating hyperscale data center projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts for large-scale hyperscale data center projects
• Develop detailed conceptual, schematic, and GMP estimates

Requirements

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
• At least 3 years of hyperscale data center estimating experience
• Must have worked for a General Contractor
• Strong understanding of large-scale mission-critical construction
• Experience estimating projects from early design through GMP/award
• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and sequencing
• Experience with subcontractor bidding and bid leveling
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of MEP scopes within large-scale data centers
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
