Job summary

Daksta is seeking a Senior Estimator focused on data centre projects to join our preconstruction team. You will deliver accurate cost estimates for large-scale commercial and industrial builds, lead collaboration with design, and serve as the primary cost contact.

The role requires a bachelor’s in CM/engineering, proficiency with WinEST and Destini, strong MEP knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior estimators. Travel ~10% and relocation/sign-on benefits available.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team, specializing in data centre projects. This role is integral to our preconstruction team and will focus on delivering accurate cost estimations for large-scale commercial and industrial projects. Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for data centre projects, with a focus on commercial and industrial builds exceeding $20 million.
• Collaborate with the preconstruction team to integrate cost estimation into the design phase.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for cost-related inquiries during the preconstruction phase.
• Utilize industry-standard software such as WinEST and Destini to develop accurate and comprehensive estimates.
• Analyze project documents, specifications, and drawings to identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) teams to ensure alignment on project requirements.
• Participate in site visits and meetings as needed (approximately 10% travel).
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimators and other team members.

Day-to-Day

• Collaborate with the preconstruction team to develop and refine project budgets.
• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss project progress and address any cost-related concerns.
• Provide detailed reports and presentations to leadership on project estimates and financial forecasts.
• Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and best practices in cost estimation.
• Support the team in identifying and mitigating potential risks during the preconstruction phase.
