Branch Civil, Inc. is seeking a collaborative and driven Senior Estimator to join our growing team in Virginia. The role focuses on heavy civil and site development, requiring self-motivation, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality.

The Senior Estimator will lead the estimating team on select projects, perform take-offs, bid preparation, and client communication, while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with DBE/MBE requirements. Travel ~20%, supervision of up to four staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
• 10 years of experience in an estimating role in pursuits of $20M+.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior level estimating role.
• HCSS HeavyBid experience required.
• Proficiency with Agtek earthwork software is required.
• Strong math skills with a thorough understanding of geometry.
• Understanding of geotechnical information.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Ability to communicate technical information both orally and in writing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Performing quantity take-offs, pricing, scoping and bidding of construction projects.
• Visiting the project site to understand site conditions.
• Develop understanding of project specs and bidding requirements.
• Prepare and manage clarification correspondence with client.
• Develop relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Identify constructability issues and value-engineering opportunities.
• Lead the estimating team on select projects.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Assess site risks and mitigate them.
• Review estimates with PMs and superintendents to ensure accuracy.
• Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior management.
• Ensure compliance with MBE/DBE requirements in bid process.
• Understand safety, quality and environmental standards in estimates.
• Develop preliminary project schedule from plans and specs.
• Track and document historical data for future use.
• Represent the company in client meetings.
• Prepare preliminary budgets for projects won.
• Handoff projects to operations with clear scope and complexities.
• Other duties as assigned
