Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of experience in an estimating role for pursuits of $20M+.
• Minimum of 3 years in a senior estimating role.
• HCSS HeavyBid experience required.
• Proficiency with Agtek earthwork software is required.
• Strong math skills with a thorough understanding of geometry.
• Understanding of geotechnical information.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to anticipate and account for quality, safety, productivity and scheduling implications.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs, pricing, scoping and bidding of construction projects.
• Visiting the project site to develop a thorough understanding of the site conditions.
• Develop a clear understanding of project specifications and bidding requirements.
• Communicate clearly with clients in written and verbal form.
• Develop relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Identify constructability issues through estimating.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities to gain a competitive edge.
• Lead estimating team on select projects.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Assess site risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Review estimates with PMs, superintendents and other estimators for cost accuracy.
• Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior management.
• Ensure compliance with MBE/DBE requirements and subcontractor solicitation.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards in estimates.
• Develop preliminary project schedules from plans and specs.
• Track and document historical data for future use.
• Represent the company during client interactions and meetings.
• Prepare preliminary budgets for projects won.
• Hand off new projects to operations with clear scope and plan.
• Other duties as assigned.
