Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Heavy Civil Construction team in Connecticut. You will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for grading, drainage, utilities, asphalt paving, and highway projects, taking ownership of complex estimating tasks while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes detail orientation, collaboration, and timely delivery of comprehensive proposals in a fast-paced, office-based environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or highway construction.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent).
• Experience in the construction field or closely related discipline.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in listed estimation software (see tools).

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare cost estimates.
• Interpret contract terms, conditions, and project scopes.
• Develop detailed estimates and proposals under tight deadlines.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for grading, drainage, utilities, and paving.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, clients, and vendors.
• Provide clarification on scopes and explore value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with field personnel to ensure smooth transitions and handoffs.
• Support Project Managers in field management transfer.
• Mentor and train junior estimating staff.
