Job summary

Metric Geo seeks an experienced Estimator to join our team, reporting to the Vice President of Estimating, to develop estimates for bridge, highway, railway, airport, dam, tunnel, and transit projects nationwide.

You will read contract proposals and drawings, perform quantity take-offs, and prepare unit price estimates using cost software such as HCSS, coordinating with project owners, suppliers, and subcontractors during pre-bid and post-bid activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of relevant estimating and project management experience.
• 5+ years of experience estimating for heavy civil projects.
• Previous estimating experience on projects over $100M in value.
• Good communication skills to effectively solicit and work with project owners' representatives, material suppliers, and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparation and post-bid negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for bridge, highway, railway, airport, dam, tunnel, and/or transit projects.
• Read, analyze, interpret, and obtain a thorough understanding of contract proposals, drawings, and specifications.
• Self-perform and/or direct others in quantity take-off for unit price and lump sum project bidding schedules, summarizing in Excel.
• Analyze scopes of work and produce comprehensive unit price estimates by creating production crews and including equipment and materials in project cost software such as HCSS.
