Job summary

Southland Holdings is seeking a Senior Construction Estimator for highway/roadway projects across Texas. The role focuses on coordinating overall estimating efforts, reviewing drawings and specs, and preparing complete takeoffs for DOT/highway bids.

Candidates should have 7+ years of DOT estimating experience, familiarity with alternative delivery methods, and experience with HCSS Heavy Bid. A track record of $20M+ projects and ability to work with vendors and clients to finalize bids are

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Department of Transportation Estimating experience (roadway, highway, infrastructure, DOT, toll road, freeway, transportation, bridges).
• Alternate pursuit delivery preferred (Design Build, CMAR, P3,CMGC).
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid software a plus.
• Proven track record of estimating $20,000,000+ projects.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a bid/project as assigned.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and required estimate contents.
• Perform risk and contract management, incorporate data from POs, subcontracts, productivity reports into figures.
• Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs of scope of work.
• Consult with clients, vendors, or others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Review design options and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with project regulations and DBE requirements, review subcontractor work lists.
• Review final estimate and apply strategic cost factors; prepare bids and select vendors/subcontractors.

Qualifications:

Duties:

• Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Perform Risk and Contract Management responsibilities as required, review/incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures
• Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
• Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
• Obtain knowledge of project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project to meet affirmative action requirements and DBE requirements, review list of work to be performed by subcontractors
• Review final estimate and apply strategic cost factors if necessary
• Prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid. Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example.
