Job summary

PSR Talent Solutions is assisting a Texas-based heavy civil contractor in hiring an Estimator to support TxDOT and highway/infrastructure projects. You will develop detailed, competitive estimates from quantities, labor, materials, and equipment, and prepare bid packages for projects ranging from $5M to $200M.

You'll collaborate with Operations, PMs and leadership to shape bid strategy, review drawings and specs, and ensure accurate unit-cost calculations.

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience within heavy civil construction.
• Experience pricing TxDOT highway, bridge, roadway or infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in bottom-up estimating and/or unit-cost estimating.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, utilities, concrete, asphalt and highway construction methods.
• Experience preparing competitive bids for projects valued between $10M and $200M.
• Strong knowledge of construction costs, crew productivity, equipment utilisation and project risk.
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate or similar estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate construction sequencing, site conditions, resource requirements and project risks.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Work closely with Operations, Project Managers and senior leadership to develop competitive bid strategies.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits and bid reviews.
• Support the handover of successfully awarded projects to delivery teams.

The Opportunity

PSR Talent Solutions is working with an established heavycivil engineering contractor seeking an experienced Estimator to join its growing Texas operations.

The company delivers major TxDOT and heavy civil infrastructure projects, with individual contract values ranging from $5 million to $200 million.

This is an opportunity to join an experienced pre-construction team, working on a strong pipeline of highway, bridge and infrastructure projects across Texas.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for TxDOT and heavy civil construction projects.

Develop accurate bottom-up and unit-cost estimates, incorporating labor, materials, equipment, production rates and subcontractor costs.

Review drawings, specifications, bid documents and project requirements.

What We're Looking For

Proven estimating experience within heavy civil construction.

Experience pricing TxDOT highway, bridge, roadway or associated infrastructure projects.

Must be proficient in bottom-up estimating and/or unit-cost estimating, with the ability to build detailed estimates from quantities, crew production rates, labour, equipment and material costs.

Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, utilities, concrete, asphalt and highway construction methods.

Experience preparing competitive bids for projects valued between $10M and $200M.

Strong knowledge of construction costs, crew productivity, equipment utilisation and project risk.

Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate or similar estimating software preferred.

Previous experience working for a self-performing heavy civil contractor.

Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and communication skills.
