Job summary

Balfour Beatty US is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator for our Southwest Region estimating team in Austin, TX. You will prepare full takeoffs for highway projects, including structures, earthwork, paving, and utilities, with bid-build and design-build scopes.

The role requires coordinating with vendors, reviewing plans and specs, mitigating risks, and mentoring junior staff to ensure accurate, competitive bids. Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid and P6 scheduling is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10 years of estimating experience on large highway projects.
• Working knowledge of TxDOT standards and specifications.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and Bluebeam; HCSS Heavy Bid experience.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope and required contents of estimate.
• Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of scope of work.
• Maintain files of working documents and price data from suppliers.
• Utilize HCSS Heavy Bid to develop a comprehensive project estimate.
• Communicate with vendors for quotations and efforts.
• Review plans to recommend cost-effective solutions based on quality and materials.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior estimating staff.
