Job summary

Armand Corporation seeks an experienced Senior Estimator to provide construction cost estimating and technical review services for the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA).

The role requires eight years in construction-related fields, with at least five years in direct construction estimating. You will prepare detailed estimates, perform takeoffs, and participate in negotiations to ensure accurate budgeting for designs and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related construction discipline.
• Eight years of full-time professional experience in construction, design, or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum five years of direct construction estimating experience.
• Experience estimating in architectural, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing disciplines.
• Ability to independently prepare detailed construction cost estimates and quantity takeoffs.
• Experience reviewing contractor and/or consultant estimates and supporting negotiations.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specs, contracts, methods, materials, labor, and cost development.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Project, and estimating tools/software.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate contract estimates prepared by private consultants for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare analyses and recommendations regarding consultant estimates for SCA implementation.
• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates for projects at various design stages.
• Develop and review cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and general conditions.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost evaluations from design documents and contract changes.
• Review drawings and specifications to determine scope and constructability considerations.
• Evaluate pricing against historical data, market conditions, and cost benchmarks.
• Assist in cost negotiations with consultants and contractors.
• Identify variances and risks affecting project budgets and communicate findings.
