Job summary

CBX Solutions in Easton, MA is seeking an Estimator to interpret plans, price door hardware packages, and manage labor cost analysis for bid projects. You will review contractor scopes, create accurate takeoffs, and input data into Comsense to ensure competitive pricing.

The ideal candidate has a technical background in engineering or related field, 5+ years in construction or building materials, and strong math skills.

Qualifications

• 2 or 4 year degree in Engineering or related area preferred, or 5+ years of job related experience.
• At least 5 years of related experience in similar construction or building material industry
• Accurate mathematical skills
• Experience working in Comsense
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Works directly with Contractor including the hard bid processes
• Reviews scope of work with General Contractor pre/post bid and hardware/HMF manufacturer combo packages determine most competitive position
• Performs labor cost interpretation based on scope of work
• Receives constructing plans, drawings and specifications and reviews for familiarization; checks for completeness; notes bid deadlines and any special requirements
• Organizes approach to project by deciding how to separate portions of major projects and to identify typical opening or hardware sets, etc.; notes project construction schedules, if applicable
• Interprets construction specifications; where necessary, discusses interpretations with team salesperson, customers or the architect
• Reads building plans and identifies applicable portions with Cook & Boardman involvement
• Summarizes door opening and other applicable portions of plans by type
• Compares actual and estimated materials on completion of each project
• Enters applicable information in to Comsense system and prices job based on computer cost files
• Responsible for complete door and hardware takeoffs and costing all parts and scope of work
• All other duties as assigned
