Job summary

CBX Solutions is seeking an Estimator to interpret contract documents, perform door and hardware takeoffs, and price all parts of the scope for commercial construction projects. You’ll work directly with General Contractors, review plans, and ensure competitive bidding using Comsense cost files.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in construction materials, sharp math skills, and accuracy. A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required; occasional travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related experience in construction or building materials.
• Accurate mathematical skills.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Works directly with Contractor including the hard bid processes.
• Reviews scope of work with General Contractor pre/post bid and hardware/HMF packages.
• Performs labor cost interpretation based on scope of work.
• Receives plans, reviews for familiarization, notes bid deadlines and special requirements.
• Organizes project approach, identifies opening or hardware sets, and notes schedules.
• Interprets specifications and discusses interpretations with team, customers or architect.
• Reads building plans and identifies applicable portions with Cook & Boardman involvement.
• Summarizes door opening and applicable portions of plans by type.
• Compares actual and estimated materials on completion of each project.
• Enters information into Comsense and prices job based on cost files.
• Responsible for complete door and hardware takeoffs and costing all parts.
